Utility Box Art? Palo Alto Is Looking for New Artists to Create Colorful Streetscapes

Sunshine

One of the things we love about Palo Alto is the quirky and unexpected art that pops up around town, from Greg Brown’s fantastic murals to the painted utility boxes that trick the eye, bring vitality to the streetscape and teach people about conservation. These colorful painted boxes also prevent graffiti and give people a reason to stop and think as they navigate the busy streets of Palo Alto. If you’ve ever wanted to paint one of these cool boxes, now is your chance!

Red, Yellow, GO for Art! is looking for artists to paint a whole new set of boxes located all over Palo Alto. Individual artists or teams of artists who reside in Santa Clara, San Mateo and San Francisco counties are encouraged to apply.

The boxes are located on University and Hamilton Avenues in downtown Palo Alto. Specific information about the dimensions and locations can be found on the Red, Yellow, GO for Art! facebook page. Or for more information, contact RedYellowGoforArt@gmail.com.
