Palo Alto Now and Then: Corner of Everett and Ramona

Corner of Ramona and Everett, 1933 vs. today

Ever wonder what’s changed in Palo Alto over the years?

In the midst of growth and development in Palo Alto, we’ve been wondering what things used to look and how much has really changed.

Palo Alto Now and Then is a new feature on Palo Alto Pulse that aims to explore this question using photos from the Palo Alto Historical Association to identify locations around town and see what’s different (or not) from years ago. Each week, we’ll look at a new spot to see how our town is evolving while still holding on to Palo Alto’s rich and unique history.

Want to know what your neighborhood looked like way back when?

We invite you to comment about what you notice in these photos, visit these locations in person, and explore for yourself. And if you have an address, location or landmark you’d like to see on Palo Alto Now and Then, drop us a line and let us know!

This week: Everett and Ramona- weirdly enough, still the same after 82 years

This week we look at the corner of Everett and Ramona, near downtown Palo Alto. While just a few blocks away, Palantir and Survey Monkey embody the growth of high tech in Palo Alto, this location looks remarkably the same as it did in 1933. It was a two-story apartment building 82 years ago, and it still is today. The main thing that’s changed is the car, and the Prius definitely time stamps the ‘now’ photo as from 2015.
